FARQUHAR WINS THRILLING MANX GRAND PRIX CLASSIC SUPERBIKE RACE TO TAKE THIRD WIN OF THE WEEK AT MANX GRAND PRIX

Northern Ireland’s Ryan Farquhar took his third victory of the week, and ninth Manx Grand Prix title, with a thrilling win over Mark Buckley, adding The Classic Racer Classic Superbike race to the Okells Brewery 500cc Senior Classic and the Motorsport Merchandise 350cc Junior Classic titles he won earlier in the week.

BRADY AT THE DOUBLE WITH SECOND MANX GRAND PRIX WIN

Northern Ireland racer Andy Brady won a thrilling Visit Isle of Man Senior Grand Prix, adding to the Manngo.im Junior title he won earlier in the week, the first time a rider has won both titles since Craig Atkinson achieved the feat in 2006. The Martin Bullock Racer was pushed all the way by Grant Wagstaffe, eventually crossing the line a mere three seconds ahead of the English racer.

The second race of the day at the 2011 Manx Grand Prix, the Manx Radio SuperTwin and Lightweight class races got away at 2.15pm, following the earlier delay, and it was double delight for the Isle of Man as local Douglas racers Dave Moffitt and Billy Smith took the top honours.

Northern Ireland’s Ryan Farquhar made a triumphant return to the Manx Grand Prix with victory in the opening race of the day, the 500cc Classic, having missed the 2010 meeting with injury.

ANDREW BRADY WINS MANNGO.IM JUNIOR MANX GRAND PRIX RACE

The Manngo.im Junior Manx Grand Prix got under way at 1.30pm after a short delay due to the road sweeper dealing with diesel on the road. Conditions were reported as damp around the course with lack of adhesion flags being waved by the marshals on many of the mountain course sections.

RYAN FARQUHAR TAKES HONOURS IN 350CC MOTORSPORT MERCHANDISE RACE AT MANX GRAND PRIX

Overnight rain on the Isle of Man left the mountain course with damp patches for the first race in Monday’s race programme at the Manx Grand Prix Festival, the Motorsport Merchandise 350/250cc race. Damp patches were reported throughout the course and Clerk of the Course, Phil Taubman, advised competitors that there was a lack of adhesion in a number of sections.

Conditions were described as perfect for the first race of the 2011 Manx Grand Prix Races, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Newcomers Race, although Clerk of the Course Phil Taubman warned the riders about sunlight at Ballahutchin and the Gooseneck.

BUCKLEYAGAIN SETS THE PACE IN CLASSIC SUPERBIKE QUALIFYING AT MANX GRAND PRIX

Bright sunlight greeted the riders at the start of the fifth Qualifying session at the 2011 Manx Grand Prix Races, though Clerk of the Course Phil Taubman warned the riders about damp patches from Ballacraine to Glen Helen from the earlier rain. After the cautious laps posted yesterday following heavy rain, most of the classes saw the fastest laps of the week recorded.

The Isle of Man Branch of the VMCC is expecting record numbers of people to attend this year’s Festival of Jurby on Sunday 28th August. Last year’s event attracted over 10,000 people and more are expected this year as the event’s popularity increases. It is already the biggest single spectator attraction on the Isle of Man, outside the TT Races.

Riders were greeted with blue skies and bright sunshine ahead of the third qualifying session for the 2011 Manx Grand Prix Races, though the riders were warned of a lack of adhesion from Black Dub to Glen Helen, at Ramsey hairpin and at Governors Dip.

MANX GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING SESSION RED FLAGGED FOLLOWING INCIDENT NEAR RAMSEY

The second qualifying session at the 2011 Manx Grand Prix was red flagged at around 19.20 following an incident just after Milntown in the North of the Island. A bike was reported to be on fire, the rider involved, Brian Purdey from Onchan, Isle of Man was taken by airmed to Nobles Hospital where he was later reported to be in a stable condition.

The 2011 Manx Grand Prix Festival finally got underway tonight following the cancellation of Saturday’s first practice due to rain. The session got underway at around 18.35 following a short delay while marshals were moved into position.

FIRST PRACTICE SESSION AT 2011 MANX GRAND PRIX CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER

Rain on the Isle of Man has resulted in the cancellation of the first practice session for the 2011 Manx Grand Prix Races which was scheduled for 5pm (GMT) today (Saturday 20th August) from 5pm. Clerk of the course Phil Taubman took the early decision at 3pm following reports expected rain around the course. He said:

Two legends of motorbike racing, Carl Fogarty and James Whitham, are bringing their popular chat show ‘Givin It Gas’ to the Isle of Man. The popular pair will be appearing at the TT Grandstand’s VIP Club on the evening of Wednesday 31st August.
